In celebration of Black History Month, The University of Texas at Arlington Library has released a new article written by Michael Barrera exploring the history of the first African American football and men’s basketball student athletes at UTA. The purpose of the article according to the UTA library is to “raise awareness of Special Collections’ resources and to foster the use of these resources.” Get immersed in the story as it explores the background of the university’s segregationist history and the subsequent desegregation while discovering the history of the first African American Football at UTA.
